I just discovered that my motor rough running was nothing more than an air bubble in the gas lines. I had one of my sons pump the bulb while giving the mootor gas and the rough running ended. Motor runs fine now.
I think carb cleaning is recommended way too many times here in this forum...

I own a mako 171 that is paired with a '00 Johnson 115hp. It has a 13 1/4 x 17 pitch and it produces 5900 rpm at WOT. I use the boat for fishing and waterskiing. I have no problems coming out of the hole when waterskiing. Would a 19 pitch benefit the motor?

I am planning to change the impeller on my '00 Johnson 115 hp. I have a couple of herniated disks and want to know how much that lower unit weighs so I can plan an attack.
Is it as easy as ordering the kit and unbolting the lower unit?

Is it true that a pinion in the starter wears of or free rotates so that it the engine does not crank?? I was told that this is a fairly common problem and it is better to change it as part of yearly maintenance. Thanks
