The guy said it was for a V-8, but when I went into the upper gearcase to put the tru-course steering in the gears were bigger and a tag said that they were for a inline 4 type engine, which is way more smaller than a V-8.     CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION?

    I recently got a 1969 OMC electric shift gearcase for a 120-140 hp engine. The thing is, is that my engine is a 225 hp and the gears were smaller in that. Now the gears in the 120-140 are bigger. So does anyone know if this is ok to do, or will the 225 hp just mess-up the gears and clutches...

    Can someone help me with a electric stringer gear ratio question?

    I recently got a 1969 electric shift drive geared for a 165 hp engine. The problem is that my engine is a 225 hp, and the gears in that drive were smaller. So does anyone know if my 225 engine will turn that 165 drive? Or will it just mess-up the gears? :confused:
