hello all. i would just like to know if im doing the timing right on my 1979 55hp evinrude. im setting it on 15 as im told to take 4 off. have been told its true setting is 19 tdc.
is it right i have my spark plugs out. throttle set on full. and set it at 15 tdc..
have been doing some re search...

hi im just wondering if my starter solenoid could be my problem.
i only ask this as some times the starter motor doesn't engage and just makes a clicking sound.

hello i have a 1979 55hp evinrude and im wondering how the buttaflys should be on starting, open or half closed. am trying to do the timing and just wondering how much air flow it sholud be getting for it to and run. can get it to fire most of the time now but not quite idle. im just learning...

Hello all out there. im looking for some advice on what could be wrong with my outboard. it only fires when it wants to and when it does it dies after about 4 - 5 seconds. i have a 1986 55hp evinrude.
so far iv'e cleaned both carby's, put in a new diaframe in fuel pump. new plugs new fuel lines...
