My 1967 Mercury 500 50 hp will now idle at half way up and full, the problem is it won't idle at low speed. I had rebuild the carbs and now I have been trying to adjust them. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a 1967 mercury 500. Now the problem is the starter makes a lot of noise sort of a spinning noise. It does not stay engaged and also gets really hot, it smokes and sometimes sparks. I was wondering to I need a new starter. I just bought a new battery, a good cranking one. Thank you. Paul
I was wondering how do I remove the transom plate on this motor. I see the 4 bolts but looks like there is some kind of shaft going through the middle. Any help would be great.

Ok what can of bolt is that on the trim tab anode for the 1971 Merc 500. It is not Allen head, like my 1968. I thinking it is a 12 point head, if that is so then what size is it?
