I bought a used lower unit for my 96 Force (mercury) 40HP. It is a mercury, but looks exact. I can get the foot to withing a couple of inches but it won't go any moore. The drive shaft is in far enough to turn the flywheel, the shift linkage is fine. Is it time to get a hammer?<br />Need...
I am trying to remove the pinion gear in order to remove the forward gear. Looking at the gear, it looks as though a nut is hoding the pinion gear on. Would removing this nut allow driveshaft to be removed? The manual is really poor for the mercury force units.<br />thanks
