Have had my boat in several small inland lakes with no problems so I decided to take it out on Lake Michigan to do some perch fishing.
Everything went well going out but coming back in I blew antifreeze all over out the Radiator cap & shorted my system out so I waited for a tow.
Motor hit 240...

I have searched and tested and searched again and I'm lost and frustrated!
I have a 1980-82 Merc 485 serial #6123982 (off valve cover)
I brought this home about a week ago to take care of some things and to un-winterize it.
I had a fuel issue that I got fixed and almost had the boat started...
I'm at a cross roads with my project and I can't decide if I want to trash it or fix it?
The boat has a 485 Merc I/O that ran before it was put away for 8yrs.
What can I get out of the whole deal?
Motor & lower unit the whole engine?
Motor has pwr stearing also.
I was told 12-1,400?
