I managed to screw around with a few erratic timing settings and the motor now idles fairly reliably...
I has lots of "snap" when I crank the carb linkage and the excess oil in the exhaust has settled down to a reasonable amount. I am not going to rev this thing too...
Just ran up my rebuilt V-6 2.4.
1986 V-6 200hp Blackmax, Oil Injection removed.
SN: 06592288
Seems to be waaaaay too much oil residue from the exhaust and in the cylinders...The residue is a nasty thin oil that has a heavy aroma of carbon/burnt fuel.
The common cause for this escapes me.
Timing...
During the tear-down of my old 200 in the fall, I needed to "slightly" heat the flywheel hub to remove it (having snapped a Merc puller and stripped another) and I knew that I would end up killing the magnet ring located under the flywheel hub....not the magnet ring INSIDE the flywheel...the one...

I am in the final stages of a complete rebuild on a V6 2.4 1986 V200 (200hp)
and I cannot positively identify the correct placement of all the bleed lines on this motor.
The Clymer Manual I have is not good enough as it has only a partial layout of one side of the routing pattern...

Needless to say, I was not too worried about destroying the trigger assembly under it. (as I was going to replace it anyway)....but stupid me, I forgot that there...

I do not know of any open-hulled Kayots since the early 70s...but it appears original (unless the deckboat upper was cut out professionally)
