86 3.0 chev omc . my alt doesnt seem to be charging at low rpms.
can anyone tell me a way to check this while its running at idle on muffs or should i just take it off and run it down to napa to have it checked ... when i open it up to wot it charges fine .. i can watch my volt meter climb up...
i took my boat out yesterday to check for pre summer issues .. and of coarse found one ..
at the dock it started right up and idled perfect , it was running a little rich but not bad at all . i checked shifting operation at the dock all was good ..
so i backed out put it in forward gear just...
86 omc i/o checked the fluid level the other day, loosened the fill screw with trim all the way up like the manual says ... it hissed like a gas cap would .. im assuming its normal , but i will ask anyway for peace of mind ... is a slight hissing normal while doing this fluid check ... ?

i have this boat running like a champ and it is in great shape .
my question is they cant remember the last time the bellows or the impeller was...
ok i spent the $2.50 on the resistors and diodes for the pertronix point upgrade .... i have tons of grey wire which is specified in the repair info ....
but which guage wire is reccomended ?
first of all do i even have a shift interrupter? i am clearly new to boats ....
however ... right now my engine runs fine and all is good ... should i even do this upgrade ?

with the rebuild kit i have conficting info .. measuring from upper gasket surface to lip on float ?

well i had a chance to put some time in on the boat ... to no availe .. she doesnt start .. i put new fuel filters in and new gas , nothing .. so i rebuilt the carb didnt find anything that bad other than a ton of silicone on the base gasket ... straight edge checked the manifold .. its perfect...
