Twin Merc. 6.2 Mags with Bravo 3 - EMCT Temperature Overheat Fault - Port side Manifolds (Only)

Honestly if I had the time and the inclination I probably could have taken @Searay205 's suggestion and used a pressure washer to try to blast everything out of the water ports in the manifolds and risers to see if that could clear them enough. It did not appear that the manifolds were rotted so...

Twin Merc. 6.2 Mags with Bravo 3 - EMCT Temperature Overheat Fault - Port side Manifolds (Only)

Had another long trip on the water this weekend 26nm in total. Many of the miles at 4000 rpms. I agree in full - next boat or next set of engines needs to be closed cooling or OB's. I also know that I need to check the risers/elbows a lot sooner than the last time. Now that I know how I'm in a...

Twin Merc. 6.2 Mags with Bravo 3 - EMCT Temperature Overheat Fault - Port side Manifolds (Only)

Update- starboard side completed last Sunday. It appears to be a success! Sea trial results: Port sides Avg. EMCT : ~110 degrees Starboard sides Avg. EMCT: ~125 degrees RPMs: 3950 both engines Speed over ground: 27 mph Test at speed: 8-10 minutes. Short test but this was plenty long based...

Yeah - I imagine these cost 2x as much as they would have in 2019. Covid-flation. Bummer. I had planned to do the exhaust given the age of the boat but I figured about half the price.

Here are repeats on the TIPS that I picked up here for REMOVING the 78 pound manifolds. - Grab a 2x4 and cut it to fit across the engine compartment over the manifolds. - Use a strap that has a "cinching clamp" on it to support the manifold off the 2/4 with the strap while taking out the bolts...

Twin Merc. 6.2 Mags with Bravo 3 - EMCT Temperature Overheat Fault - Port side Manifolds (Only)

Update: Hi All - Based on all of the feedback on this forum, the fact that the exhaust seems (by all record) to be 9 years old WITH raw water cooling, I opted to continue with the exhaust "flow restriction" testing instead of Bravo-itis testing. If you recall - I had done both Port Risers...

Twin Merc. 6.2 Mags with Bravo 3 - EMCT Temperature Overheat Fault - Port side Manifolds (Only)

Sorry fell behind. Port port manifold was 212 at fault- didn’t see starboard port manifold until a bit later but it was 179. Both of these were triggering faults prior to the riser replacement. Looked up the pump history- seller gave me awesome receipts. -New port seawater pump 2/2018 (bearing...

Y’all are a world of information. So glad I joined the forum. Thanks! I think the pump/ bravo-itis is worth looking into

Honestly I am torn. Ever replaced an impeller while floating? I understand I will need a plug to keep from sinking

It’s a Boston harbor boat for sure- he’s been doing this for 30 years though

Update- well took boat out today- first time since owning that the port engine “service engine soon” signal didn’t stay blinking after startup! This required a moment of applause…also no faults from the sensors. True test came when I started to run up the engines. 2000 no problem 2500 no...

Well it’s good news so far. I really just needed to really understand how the Rinda works to clear faults (needed to clear the history) sensors are all reading now and no heater fault. No promises yet on the fuel fault but it’s clear and didn’t return upon startup

Twin Merc. 6.2 Mags with Bravo 3 - EMCT Temperature Overheat Fault - Port side Manifolds (Only)

Okay with some great advice from @Searay205 I am starting to understand these faults. I picked up the service manual #51 tonight. I finally get it that the Post Cat O2 sensors do nothing to adjust the fuel mix. He said it 20x and by the 20th it registered 😂. Using my Rinda I plan to clear the...

So that everyone knows - currently the CATS are selling for >$2900 each. A pair of risers was a little over $1700. I probably need 4 risers but started with the 2 that were hot at the manifolds. I only had an error out of 1 of my 4 CATS so I'm feeling like I would only need to replace 1 of them...
