does this motor need a t stat ? also the impeller looks good but no water (lot of sand and salt ) and is their a water tell on the upper exhaust housing or just on gear case? pull the cap where the t-stat but no t stat pulled head and the inner water jacket was full of sand and salt .... ...
not rinsing motor after salt water used, corrision on motor (cooling sytem) what can be done to fix problem? clean or just new parts
WHY, looking at a motor with this problem just move on or is it worth tring to fix thanks DENNIS

i was giving a trailer(ALMOST NEW) and boat the boat is a sears ,my question is who made them for sears as i can't read the motor size it seem to to be 14ft deep V alum boat in good shape also , think 50hp with stick steer up front ? this will be a project boat i'll take pic ,just got it home...
what manual should i get ? thanks for any info on what to look for
the problem is it just shuts down when running if i'm quick enough and pump the bulb it will keep running:(
9.8 mercury was told 1988 sn# 5851270
was also told runs great :mad: small problem shuts down when running starts back up, but don't like the full throttle this is when it shut down,(most of the time) been looking on the site(GREAT INFO) ,thinking maybe the fuel fliter ? thanks for any help
