Looking for best way to mount water filter away from compressor. Am told water traps mounted on the compressor do not work as hot moist air will pass through filter. Anyone have luck using in-line filters or mounting filter on coiled tubing?
Have a compressor that delivers 9 cfm @ 40 and 7.5 @ 90. Spray Gun World tells me ANY sprayer (HVLP or LVLP) will work. HVLP - You just have to paint slower or stop more often so compressor can catch up. LVLP - Can spray non stop but have more over spray.
Can some painters chime in with some...
I am carpeting a Jon Boat. Method is to cut plywood to fit decks, floor and sides, coat both sides and ends with 3 coats poly, carpet panel and install in boat. Someone suggested to pad the decks and floor, otherwise the carpeting will wear out fast. If so, what padding would work? Need to glue...
Painting an alminium jon boat with Rust-Oleum. Previously posted about using Brightside but paint, primer and 333 solvent was $400. Rust-Oleum will be about $80.
Question on order of painting gunwales and sides / bottom:
Plan is to sand gunwales, treat with Alumaprep and Alodine, then brush...
Painting an aluminium Jon Boat with roller and tip method. Using Rust-Oleum self etching oil based Marine primer and regular Rust-Oleum for a top coat. Painting entire boat including below the water line. Boat has solid factory paint with bare sections where some welding was done. Welded areas...
I have an old 12 gallon Sears Paint Sprayer Air Compressor. The specs are 8.1 SCFM displacement with delivery of 6.4 SCFM@40 PSI and 5.4 SCFM@90PSI. This unit has a regulator but I have no idea what the SCFM will be at other PSI settings.
Questions - How closely do the paint sprayer and...
Getting ready to paint an aluminium Jon Boat. My question here is how to position my boat so the bottom, sides and the gunnels can be painted at the same time. Pretty much set on how to prime and paint it.
Flipping the boat over and painting the bottom and sides is no problem. How do I paint...
I am just starting the process of painting a 16 foot aluminium Jon Boat. Here is what I think I know:
1. Degrease and sand with 180 grit sandpaper. Not necessary to remove ALL factory paint as long as all surface is clean and sanded.
2. Prime with NAPA self etching primer OR Galv-Alum primer...
I am looking for a good battery charger. It would be nice if it could also start a car or lawn tractor if needed. I have a Schumacher WM-1200A that worked OK but needs to be replaced. Looking for an up grade in about the $100 range. Interested in hearing about what make and model battery charger...
Thanks for the advice on fast charging starting batteries and trickle charging deep cycle trolling motor batteries. I charged my deep cycle trolling motor battery at 12 amps but it ran out in about a half hour of fishing. Trickle charged it yesterday at 2 amps and will let you know how long it...
I have been told batteries need to be charged in the same way the current is drawn from them. Deep cycle batteries for trolling motors have a low current draw over a long time and starting batteries have a high current draw for a short time. Is it advisable to charge deep cycle batteries say at...
I have an aluminum Polar Kraft Jon boat with a bench seat. Want to add swivel seats that can be removed. Type of seat bracket I am using has a 3/4" post under the seat and a base that attaches to the bench seat. Was told there was no wood in this aluminum boat but there is a 1" piece of plywood...
Now I need advice on an inexpensive but serviceable pneumatic spray gun. Thanks to all the good advice I got here on the complex job of repairing cracked gelcoat on a canoe I have decided to just sand down to 220 grit, prime and paint and use as is. Have decided to invest in a decent spray gun...
Read this article on repairing cracked gelcoat.
http://www.fish.state.pa.us/anglerboater/1999/julaug99/fibergls.htm
Posts here and elsewhere said it could't be done unless I sand out all the cracks. Am I missing something in the article?
Well I guess patching the crazed gelcoat isn?t going to work. Too many cracks that are really impractical to sand completely out. My revised plan is to patch the ?? hole with fiberglass cloth and polyester resin, then sand smooth. As far as the gelcoat on the canoe, plan to sand it down with...
