Great article on old time favorite lure

This is a fabulous lure that's been around virtually unchanged for the last 80 years. It works equally well in fresh or salt water, and it works in Northern Ontario as well! It;s a great article, I can personally vouch for the product, and I thought I'd share...

Daughter off to Beijing--wish her well!

My daughter qualified for the world championships of the paratriathon by winning in NYC this August. She's off this Saturday to compete in Beijing and represent her country. http://www.usatriathlon.org/news/2011/08/07/paratriathlon-stars-earn-national-titles-in-new-york/43994 The NYC race was...

    Impressive

Just thought I'd share this. My daughter completed the Ironman Texas in Houston over the weekend in 11 hrs 40 minutes. She is blind, and this is by far the fastest time ever recorded by a blind athlete, male or female, in an Ironman event. Her blog of the event is pretty interesting...

Womnan needs a little more work

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2013164351_stabbing15m.html Now I realize this isn't funny, especially to the woman stabbed, but I have to admit I laughed just a little bit.

    An impressive feat.

Just got back from Lake Placid, New York, and watched my daughter compete, and finish, the Ironman. It's a 2.5 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and a 26.2 mile run From my understanding, she is the first blind female athlete, with a female guide, to ever complete the Ironman in the allotted time. She...

    Fishfinder suggestions

I've got an Eagle Z 7000 that appears to have died, and needs to be replaced. I'm looking for suggestions for a replacement. I'm hoping to spend in the $200 range, and really only need the depth sounder part. Temp would be nice. GPS and all the other stuff is not necessary. I use only...

    Gangland violence-marine mammal style

This is cool. I've seen a few gray whales in Puget Sound, and lots of killer whales, but never even heard of an attack like this http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2011589550_hunt12m.html

    74 Evinrude 9.9 Shift adjustment

My 9.9 for some reason won't shift into reverse gear. I replaced the brass linkage coupler (it had a broken ear when I unscrewed it). I manually tried the linkage in the lower unit alone by pushing it up and down, and it seems to work fine- it engages both fwd neutral and rev gears fine, and...

    no spark-'74 Evinrude 9.9

Could someone explain to me how the coils work? I tried new coils off a different compatible motor that I know work, with new plugs. I have a continuity tester, and after cleaning and resetting the gap in the points, I checked with the tester all manner of things including continuity. I get...

    Jeep turn signal problem

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has an elusive turn signal problem. The left direction signal works some of the time, and doesn't work some of the time. The right works all the time, as does the 4 way emergency flasher. It seems like it may be dirty inside somehow, although it doesn't...

Anyone watch PBS documentary "The War"?

The newest Ed Burns documentary? It is airing on Wednesday evenings in October on PBS, and it is riveting (and non-political) 7 parts of roughly 2 hrs each part.

Gearcase seal 75 Johnson 25 hp

I've got a simple question. I'm repairing the gearcase on my 25 hp Johnson, and I am replacing the drive shaft seal in the process. The old one that came out is deeper than the replacement seal. I can install the new one by pushing it in all the way down to the base of the gear case...

75 Johnson 25 hp clutch dog replacement

I'm replacing the clutch dog on my 25 hp, and I may be a bit clumsy at it, but I'm having trouble getting the little ball bearings and spring installed behind the clutch dog. Is there any secrets/tricks/special tools to accomplish this? Or do I just keep trying/fighting it?

    74 Evinrude 9.9 no spark

I've been working off and on on this motor, and now I can't seem to get any spark. I've pulled the flywheel and there are no obvious issues. The points seem to be opening to the proper gap, the coil and condensers "look" to be ok...is there a simple test for these components? My big...
