Well per the advice of the top notch people on the forums here I was able to go from knowing nothing about boats to replacing water pump, impeller, starter, sparkplugs etc... I was having a problem when I put the boat in nuetral when I have the water muffs on it will start on the first crank...
I would like to know how to compelte a compression check on my 70HP motor force. I am wondering what I will need to know/tools to be purchased to test the motor properly. Can someone give me some recommendations here. Thanks
I recenlty changed the water pump, spark plugs, and changed out the gear oil. When I was working on the boat I could turn it over on the first crank out of the water. I turned it off and on 5 times all with no problems. Now the ODD thing.
As soon as I drop the boat in the water submerged...
I was hoping we could start a thread that would list all the best maintanance practices for our engines. So far I have:
Change Spark Plugs
Run compression check
Replace water pump everyone 1 to 2 years
Replace starter everyone 1-2 years
Dyno Engine
Grease steering rods
I know with tender...
Can someone please tell me, or show some pics so I know what to look for to assure the yoke is in place? If I was to drop the LU how do I know what to look for to assure it's in place and not looks in the GEAR BOX.
