1997 Bayliner Capri 1950 with 3.0 Merc
I just replaced my Alpha 1 outdrive last year with a new SEI. Ran great all last year.
Took it out for the first time this year and taking it off of the trailer it worked fine. Drove around the lake for only a few minutes with no issues.

I am having this exact issue right now. Goes into reverse and engages fine. Won't engage in drive, but if I raise the drive all the way up it engages and will stay engaged.
Can anyone help me figure this out??
My motor died on me. I don't think it is rebuildable. (not sure yet)
I am trying to figure out who makes the motor so I can find a used one locally.
I have heard that it is just a chevy 2.3 litre. Any ideas on the easiest and cheapest way

Someone please help I bought the boat a couple years ago I changed plugs wires cap rotor points and coil. Seems like I have to adjust my points every other time I go out. And have had to replace them about 6 times since.
