    Did you check or replace the carbon seal on the driveshaft? If that's leaking it won't pull a fuel charge into the bottom cylinder.

    '85 18XD lower unit

    I picked up a really clean 1985 18XD with a bad lower unit. The housing is cracked (froze) and gears are rusted solid, so no chance of repairing this one. I know the 20 and 25 use the same lower, but what years will interchange?

    40hp Lark II gear oil question.

    How do I go about checking/draining the LU oil on this beast? It doesn't seem to have a fill plug screw like every other OMC motor I have had. Vent screw is there, but nothing down on the bottom.
