1979 johnson 140hp runs great in yard cannot get over 5 mph in lake & won't start.
I had the fuel pump & carburetors rebuilt, replaced the powerpacks, stator and timerbase new plugs, new wires.

I do not have trim control for my 1979 johnson seahorse V6 140 hp engine.
I am considering having it at a wet slip for the summer.
Will I run into engine problems/damage if I leave the lower unit in the water (fresh lake not salt)
while the boat is at a wet slip without trimming it up?

I have just replaced the timer base. because I had no spark and it measured bad.
now I am finding that the engine starts and seems to run fine but I have to choke my engine to shut it off after it starts.
Could it be possible that a power pack has gone out??
I will check them soon...
