I have a tired Volvo 130 and 280 outdrive on my boat so thinking of repowering to a later model ( maybe Merc) motor and (Alpha) outdrive. Is that do-able with little transom modifications?
Helping a friend that just mounted a used 2008 F350 on his boat.
Friend just called asking where the command link from the tach connects to at the motor.
He thought it would be this connector but the connectors doesn?t match.
That connector is located in front of the motor in this area...
In the process of removing to replace the stiff steering cable on myStriper 2101 WA I/O and have loosen the large nut on the left.

My son just bought a 1978 28' Carver with 305 V8 motor and a 228 TR merc Stern Drive and needs a prop. As you can see, no way of seeing any markings on what the pitch is.
I measured the prop which is 9.5" radius so it's a19" O.D.
Any help greately appreciated on what pitch is needed...
I decided to convert the existing Bimini Top to a Hardtop in order to gain deck space for the kids, grandkids and great grandkids to sun bathe.

My son's '76 Mercruier's outdrive stopped working. We hear a click on the up button at the dash but nothing on the down button. Didn't see any fuse that the wiring connects to, appears it goes from tilt buttons directly to the trim motor that has 12volts on one lug but nothing on the other...
I currently have a 2000 Merc 50hp 4 stroke O/B on my boat and will be repowering to a Yamaha F90.
I read that in the early 2000 models Merc power head were Yamaha.
If this is true and other than the cables, can I use the Merc control box for the Yamaha motor?
My son bought a '89 Marlin Hardtop Cuddy with a 3.0L Mercruiser. The motor has water in the oil and he found and bought a mid '80's 3.0L motor only but did have a Mercruiser outdrive.
Will he have any issues swapping out the motor but using his existing outdrive?
