i have a 22' walkaround 1989 galaxy.
it has a 4.3 mercruiser with an alpha drive.(175hp)
the motor is original.
it is a saltwater boat.
i asume that the block is rusted after 20 years of saltwater use.
the drive is frozen so all i have is a 22'walkaround that needs a new motor.

i have a outdrive from a friend (ALPHA gen2) and it holds good pressure 15 lbs but it only holds may be 5 hg of vacuum.
is this how it is suposed to be?

i see a lot of ficht blocks and powerheads being sold on E-bay for cheap.
so i was thinking is it posible to take a 1999 150 ficht block and use it to rebuild a carbed 150 60*OIS
i know the blocks are very simular.
just want to know if everything would work out.

you might want to tell your wrench to replace the exhaust temp sensor.
when the sensor gets hot it messes up the ECM .
and will kill the spark.
specialy after a overheat those sensors will do this.
suzuki is aware of this.
check the engine temp when it happens.
than use the coldspray on the...
i was running this motor after a rebuild and now it cracked the block at cylinder nr 1
i was warned for it before i rebuild it that this could happen. Ignorance is bliss.

the displacement of the suki is a lot bigger than the johnyrude.
the 4v looper 140 carbed is on a 20'mako center console.
the I4 150 4stroke VVT suki on a 19' grady white dual console.
do i have any chance beating the suzuki with the v4 looper 140???

replaced tstat system with the 1993 suffix s tstat system and works flawlessly. at idle 135 to 145
at 3000 i can feel it cooling down.
it idles 650 rpm in gear.

i took the crankcase half of the motor again and to my surprize i could not find a good seal.
all the sealer was squeezed out.
i checked the case for warpage and its as flat as a pancake.
i checked it on a glas plate and it didnt wobble at all.

i think i messed up.
i rebuild a v6 60* looper OIS las summer and put it on my boat.
after a 2 hrs of operating it started backfiring.
after a lot of trouble shooting found out the crankcase was leaking.
after reasealing the crankcase it run great for only another 2 hrs and same thing happend...
