    Runs rough between 1000 & 2000 RPM

2004 Yamaha 2 stroke 60hp on a 20' pontoon. Motor starts and idles beautifully. Between 1000 and 2000 rpm it acts like its missing or running out of gas. Once over 2000 rpm run great. I thought it might need a carb rebuild. Pulled it out last weekend to winterize and do the carbs and I noticed...

    Prop rubber rubbing

I've measured and checked both props. Rubs when rotated by hand and under power. when I swapped them just took rubbing prop off and old one on and I can literally see the old one has more clearance. I'll take another look next weekend. Thanks

    Prop rubber rubbing

I have a 2004 Yamaha 60 hp on a pontoon. Replaced the prop last year with Solas (exact same as what came off). I seemed to spin a little hard but ran it anyways. I checked it today and I could barely turn it. So I threw the old prop on with the same parts used with the new one. Spun as it...

    Removing the 5" leg extension.

matt167 I never even thought about that. I'll check that out. Thanks

    Removing the 5" leg extension.

I've been looking for a late 90s early 2000 Yamaha 90hp 2 stroke to replace the 60 on my pontoon. I found a pretty nice bass boat with a 1997 Yamaha for $3500. I don't think the fellow realized the value of Yamahas until he was bombarded with calls trying to up price our deal. He honored our...

60 hp to 90 hp yamaha

Thats what I was thinking. To buy a used Yammy 90 is easily 4 to 5 grand. The Boston Whaler is $6000. Swap them out and I may have at max spent a grand! Thanks

60 hp to 90 hp yamaha

From the pontoon thread I have decided to upgrade to a 90hp from 60hp yamaha. I have a 20' G3 with a 2005 2 stroke 60 hp Yamaha. I have found a 1992 16' Boston Whaler with a 2007 2 stroke 90hp Yamaha. Motors pretty much look and weight the same. My question is .... Will the motor end hookups...

    Yamaha 60hp to 90hp on a pontoon

Thanks .... So bigger motor or 16' runabout seems to be my 2 choices. I kinda figured that but sometimes nice to get confirmation.

    Yamaha 60hp to 90hp on a pontoon

When tubing we keep a light load. 3 on the pontoon (1 adult and 1 kid) and 2 on the tube (again 1 adult and 1 kid.) I have a stock prop that runs 18 to 19 mph which I've read is close to max for that HP range. I rev at 5000 rpm according to dash gauge (I can't say if thats accurate). Will a...

    Yamaha 60hp to 90hp on a pontoon

I'm looking used and a Yamaha 90 runs $3000 - $5000. But I can also sell my 60 for similar price. I've contemplated a used ski type boat but thats more upkeep, Licencing, for the few times I need it on the water. A old 70 Johnson would do fine on a 16' and affordable. Running a stock pitch...

    Yamaha 60hp to 90hp on a pontoon

I have contemplated a 110 / 115 because I've found a couple at reasonable price. I know thats controversial on here so I chose not to mention that.

    Yamaha 60hp to 90hp on a pontoon

I have a 2005 20' G3 pontoon with same year 60hp yamaha 2 stroke. Transom rated for 100hp. I just don't have enough power to give my grandkids a good ride on the tube. Would moving up to 90hp Yamaha be worth it? Both the 60 and 90 are 3 cylinder motors. I don't need much .... maybe 5mph would do...

Engine move from 1990's to 2000's???

Grandkids are getting to the age where they want to go tubing. My 1991 20' pontoon with same year 40 Johnson just doesn't have enough power. So ... I found a few newer (for me) pontoons but I'm leary of the motors. 2007 Mercury 90hp 2 stroke and 2005 Evinrude 90 2 stroke. Can anyone tell me the...
