    Mercury 8hp slow to respond

    My 2001 Mercury 8hp is slow to respond when advancing throtle. It will reach full RPM, but takes longer than normal. I have rebuilt the carb and adjusted the setting but hasn't help. Can anyone please offer any suggestions?

    Removing rust from block?s water passages.

    What is the best way to remove rust paticles from the block?s water passages without totally refurbishing the block? I believe the word is called scaling. My concern is rust particles blocking the Exhaust Manifolds and Risers. Thanks.

    Spacing the engine up.

    What type of base due you use to space the engine mounting foot, when an engine needs to be spaced up? I asked b/c the boat I purchased someone used 2x4s to space the mounting foot up. Was this standard procedure or was it Jerry rigged?
