    18 Hp Evinrude powerhead studs

I have been working on a 1957 18 Hp Evinrude Fastwin. When I took the power head I accidently stripped two of the studs holding the power head onto the rest of it. I need to take those out, what is the best way of doing that and are the reverse thread or not?

How to take the lower unit off

I am working on a 1957 Evinrude Fastwin 18 Hp. I am currently in the proccess of taking the powerhead off so I can take it apart. At the same time I want to take the lower unit off. Any suggestions on how I do this?

What year is this Evinrude Fastwin?

Thanks for the info Johnsons and Evinrude's are to the best of my knowledge almost identical its almost like a Chevy GMC thing. Its a shame that Evinrude outboards went out of business this year

What year is this Evinrude Fastwin?

Thank you for the suggestion, but I agree that it is a 18 hp. I already have the head off and have been soaking it in half transmission fluid and half acetoin. I am about to receive from my grandpa a book about Evinrude and johnsons from 1956 to I think the late 80's.

What year is this Evinrude Fastwin?

My aunt has had this old motor sitting on her deck for around 20 years. It is sized up which I expected it would be. I think it is a 1956 fastwin. The only thing that is confusing me is the glass bowl that goes to the carb is on the side of the motor instead of on the carb. Has anyone seen one...
