What is it with these 2.4 and 2.5 omc's? One dies in rough seas the other slows the same way in the same conditions. Somebody must have found these odd balls out by now? It is a genetic problem of the same age.
Does anyone know the weight + or - 50# of a 5.0 or 5.7 Mercruiser complete ready to run? Or as pulled out of a running boat? Include full exhaust. Thanks.
Is to go to the nearest PROP SHOP and leave deposit money as you take the props they recommend to try. Get spare cotter pins if you do not want to buy lost props. That is the ONLY way to quickly and accuratly do it.--------------------------------- Any other way takes forever.
How many years or clock hours should, exhaust rubber be changed? Riser manifold hoses? Any other rubber pieces that can really give you a MAYDAY or tow back. 2002 Mercruiser 5.0L-- 220 hr.-------No 2 people seem to agree.
About a year ago I asked for ideas on my cavitating at any speed, boat. Factory, dealer, locals, no help. One poster thought Bottom Slime was the problem. HE was right. New marina I use solved the problem when they Acid and power washed the boat. Fantastic 2002 SS186 that is on plane in 2 - 3...
"90" Evinrude 10 hp has developed idle and just above idle smoke back out the carb. Also smoke out underwater exhaust till warm up. Fed it some Sea Foam. Am hopeing it frees something. Runs great after warm up.

Before I spend a bundle on a Mercruiser HI FIVE prop as recommended by them. Pass some judgement. 2002 Chap 186 SSI 5.0L 2 bbl carb 220 hp, me alone in it. Trim must be full under, tucked in, to slowly power up on plane. Prop blows out instantly if I goose it to 3000 quickly. Start triming out...
