Well i dummied up .. pulled "mag plate" off my powermatic 12 grr :grumpy: . Any ole-timmers (like me) in here ever had one apart? Is there a re-install vid somewhere or diagram .. >> got it back togeather but very Hard to turn now . anyone have a diagram , or know proper placement of spacer/...
Ok , waiting on points /cond's ..for my 1957 Wizard (Powermatic 12) .. the kids? have turned mag plate beyond where sector gears mate under mag plate...geeez somehow I feel that it's important on mating teeth in the right place as to not to affect timing ??.. never have had to remove mag plate...
got an 82 searay 305 (228) ...just re-installeld new pertronix ing & flame thrower coil ...had been running good for last few yrs ..doing a comp test (didnt un hook coil wire :mad:) engine trying to start while cranking over (may have held key on too long ) ...now wont start ... checked coil...
82' mercruiser, well swapped out the origonal (305) carb it was acting up, running lean ..with a 350 carb remaned same yr ..ran GREAT in yard for 10 or so mins. After hookin up choke fiddeling around with other things ..came back started up and now it smoking ( rich) ...tried adjusting jets ...
First wanna THANK all for thier advise as electrical can lead one to many directions ...."Commander in chef" URAIJIT hit it , yea Sir (of course it was the last suggestion on your list :) )....it was indeed the fuse comming from the ammeter /voltmeter what ever you wanna call it to the switch...
228 mercruiser ...Was setting the timing, the wrench hit the 50 amp curcuit breaker sparked and stalled , went to start back up "nothing" checked power @ switch is very low ....put a new 50 breaker in and still nothing..normally when i turn switch on i can hear a little ding ding , now dont...
GEEESH !! I have cornered the market on NAPA coils. Another day out another "hot" coil...running pertronix pointles ign system ,228 mercruiser (305 GM) 12v to coil from switch running or off (replaced resistor wire) went and got a coil supposed to have been 1.5-3.5 internal restance. Ran great...
Hi , got a'82 rebuilt 228 (305) mercruiser on 24.5 searay ...was having point problems ...local dealer convinced me 3 yrs ago to go "pertronix" did so , ran new wire from switch to + side of coil ran great rest of yr. .... had misfire problem mid season last year bought new coil /cap button...
mercruiser 228 (305) engine ...just replaced trim unit ...what does it want for fluid ..it an older square style...sticker says sea 5w10 oil ...i've always used dextron III trannie on them ...Ideas?
once a year...here we go again....coil overheated -shut down ( 300 ft from dock !!) rebuilt '82 228 -305 mercruiser (GM) every year is another new coil ,have checked everything i know to do . 9.5 to the coil (must be inline resistor) ....thing i don't understand is why they mounted the coil...
