    I have a 98 bayliner rendezvous 26 ft deck boat it has a 5.7 vortec 250 with a 2bbl carb and bravo 3, engine seems to be using a bit of oil so I have a 99 vortec rebuildable eng sitting around, I was thinking of doing a 383, keeping the stock cam or just enough more to equal the cam vs cubes...

    bayliner rendezvous 2659 5.7 bravo 3

    I went from a chris craft 217 concept 21 foot with 5.8 efi to a bayliner rendezvous 2659 26ft with 5.7 mercruiser with a 2bbl and bravo 3, love the boat and how it handles and goes thru rough water BUT need more power and fuel economy, the 2bbl just seems lackluster compared to efi and it sucks...

    I just bought a 94 chris craft 217 concept bowrider about a month ago, I have never owned a boat before, it has a 5.8 cobra efi, it was mainly used for a ski boat, the holeshot is great and gets on plane real fast but 3500 rpm is about 25-28 mph and 4000 rpm is about 30-35 mph, 4800 is about 40...

    what temp should eng run?

    I'm new to boats but my 5.8 cobra seems to run around 120 degs, it did get to almost 140 at very low speed, air temp was about 95 and water temp was 73 degs, I'm thinking it should run warmer than that, does this mean my thermostat is stuck open?
