Thanks for the info and picture. Now the diagram in the repair manual makes more sense. The new seal/bushing is larger and looks like it has a much better seal.

I'm currently doing some much needed maintenance/repairs on my 1985 5.9 Seville with a 170MR (replacing a bad shift cable, bellows, water pump impeller, trim/limit senders). The play in the shift shaft seems ok, but should I go ahead and replace the bushings and seal since it's never been done...
