Engine is a 1986 140hp Mercruiser I/O. Had a no start issue on Sunday. After checking gas and spark it was apparent that the carb wasn't gettting fuel from the supply line. Put in a new fuel pump early 2010 so I was pretty sure that wasn't the problem.
Turns out there was an aluminum check...
I noticed the bell housing has threads all the way through for the shift cable. Does it matter whether I use a fore or aft threaded shift cable? Are they interchangable?

I believe my steering cable is getting stuck in my guide tube on my mercruiser alpha I stern drive (1986 Sea Ray Seville 140). What is the best way to get it out? Anything I should be careful of? Can't turn the...
I believe my steering cable is getting stuck in my guide tube on my mercruiser alpha I stern drive (1986 Sea Ray Seville 140). What is the best way to get it out? Anything I should be careful of? Can't turn the wheel at all right now. Used it two weeks ago and it was hard to turn at first and...

All,
I noticed a nice post someone had concerning a Mercarb Power Valve's function. I was wondering if this could be the source of my issue. I have taken apart the carb and noticed that the plunger above the power valve sticks a little upon pushing it up and down. Probably worn through the...
Ok. So I know I have a mechanical advance timing mechanism in the base of the distributor. That is why I replaced the distributor when I first noticed the problem with a Sierra Replacement Part which is really the Mallory distributor. Unfortunetly, that did not solve the problem. The engine now...
Does anyone happen to know the correct centrifugal timing advance for this engine? All I can find is the idle timing of 6 Degrees BTDC. My manual doesn't have the advance timing settings. Thanks.
