my engine came with a tach when i bought it.used of course.anyway on my 77 115 johnson the tach setting was 6p(teleflex tach)the setting on this tach(70hp) is 12p but my tach dont seem right.it said my motor was turning 6700rpms but it didnt sound like it was running that high.is the setting on...
i bought a 82 johnson 70 with trim and tilt.the trim motor has 2 wires comming out of it.does anyone know where i can get a relay box,or know how to make one.any help is appreciated.
is it possible to put a wiring harness in so i can put in a control box to convertit to remotee steering instead of tiller?i have electrical exp.and was wondering if its possible.it has points so does this mean that it cant have a charger assembly installed? and how would i put a tach on it? thanks

my 115 had a idle problem that i have just about worked out.now if anyone can help me out,when trimmed down the motor idles low and sometimes dies but when i trim up a little bit and get the motor level with the water it idles up alot.over 1000rpms.is this my float level or could it be something...

I have a 77 johnson 115 that is only running on three cylinders.i have looked at every possible cause and found nothing.first it had a blown head gasket on # 1 cylinder.so i fixed that.rebuilt carbs.and it still only runs on 3 cylinders at idle and intermediate for sure.possibly at high rpms...

i heard that coils on my 77 johnson 115 could be defective form the factory.when they heat up my motor dies when it cools it runs fine.a mechanic told me johnson made bad coils and that is my problem.anyone heard this?
