The above motor was set up for electric remote start but I didn't get harnesses or key switch with it. I replaced solenoid. I got a harness but not sure if it is for Mercury, even though description and part # is same. Has 7 pins. See pic. Got a key switch asy. There is no yellow/red wire on...
I found a brown wire that turns to green which then goes to solenoid. My thumb is covering the brown wire. I wonder if someone hasn't changed it. Anyways I am thinking you are right but I haven't been able to test yet because it is about to start pouring rain here in Florida. I will let you know...
Motor was converted to remote control, no tiller arm or wires. I understand how kill wiring works, but there is no black yellow kill wire anywhere. I'm trying to figure out why no spark.coil and stator ohm tests

I get no spark on 2005 Mercury 9.9 4-stroke.I was thinking disconnect kill wire but can't find it. Since picture upload is not functioning. It is remote start which works fine. I use an external start button. Stator tests good .
I transported motor in my truck and when we tried to start it up again gas was flowing from carb all over the place. What is that plunger thing on side of carb and how is it used. Also can't get prop to spin like in neutral but will go into neutral position and start up
Old Mercury 3.5 and it started up and runs but makes this clanking sound. I kinda think it may have to do with the starting pull cable assembly. Any guesses would be appreciated. I got this from someone cleaning out a garage. $60
My updated post will address that thought. They don't make it easy for one person, yet alone me. All in all, problem originated from that procedure in the first place.
