Sorry If this has been covered already- My 18 ft crest II pontoon has a merc 9.9 on it and it usually runs at 3000 rpm. I think its WOT RPM is 5-6k. For some reason now its running at 2400.

I'm trying to troubleshoot my 9.9 4-stroke that won't start. It's dead at the dock and I'm doing my best with limited access. it cranks but won't fire up. The only thing I noticed out of the ordinary is that the primer bulb is tight and solid, even after sitting for 3 days. Any suggestions?
Lately I have been lazy and not taken the time to recover my boat. I figure if it gets rained on the sun dries it out the next day. It seems like a lot of people keep real nice pontoons uncovered at my marina. Am I causing any potential damage by not covering it in the summer?

When I start my 9.9 it revs real high and then so low that it almost stalls. After about 5-10 minutes it smooths out and runs fine. I replaced the fuel pump (for other reasons) and that did not change it.
