What i see is the tops of the diamond pyramids wore through leaving an edge...but also as you said not easy to scuff up the "valleys" in between.     Thanks....gonna see what others put here. Then may take 1 small hatch as a test and use a wheel of some sort (that wont gouge the glass/gelcoat) and see if it will remove that old layer without a ton of work.

    They do get stuck on. Have same motor, Twins. The also get brittle and break. I just broke 1 with little effort. The other I used penetrant for couple days and carefully taped & pried, ovwr and over. It came off eventually. Replacements are 80 bucks

    Was habing a time with high idle. Isolating my entire linkage from remote, thru the motor...the culprit is the timing disk on top of motor....the timing advance assm. All othwr rods etc are ok. Even took it off, slight lube to seenif would help..not really. Book just says to ensure rotates...

    Solved: 1 of the 12 carb body oring type gaskets that mate to the manifolold had a very slight "ding" in it. Was leaking fuel when pressurizing the bulb. Difficult to see as it was one of the lower ones. Had to take off all covers to view properly.

    The same jets/orafice were moved to the new bowls after checking-This model has only 1 in the bowl. Plastic carb "bodys" come off with 4 bolts without removing anything else. I just replaced the warped bowls, moved over the 1 jet, and new bowl gasket.

    Thanks..The 6 carbs are removed without removing fuel lines. The back throttle plate is what fuels them thru the mating surface. linkage is moving free. The throats seem much "drippier" that the other twin motor. I see the same fuel running down the leg.
