the manual says to set the gap at 0.35 when i try to set gap i can't get the gap to open any more even when i unloosen adjusting screws you guys are the best

My question is i would like to replace the oil seals in a 1976 4 hp outboard.
I have the seals out prop seal and the seal under the water pump is out
do i need to lube them with some thing before sticking new ones in thanks

i changed the water pump and that works fine hooorayyy lol but now the motor only runs in forward even when its in neutral i need to reset the gears how do i do that need help asap thanks
Hello again trying to drop the lower unit on a 1978 25 hp Evinrude outboard to replace the water pump i can get the lower unit down about 7 inches then it won't move any more any thoughts
