What would you look for if you were purchasing a 9 year old engine with less then 50 hours? Obviously it has sat idle for long periods of time. Would a compression test show any internal damage (rust)? Beside a compression test any other tests to perform?

Looking into a 1978 20' centerconsole. Anyone have any info on this hull and design/durabity? Boat seems in good shape and is powered with a 175 Yamaha.
Anyone ever hear or own this boat? It seems they were in production for 2 years (92 and 93), was this for poor quality or are they a durable boat. They came with Yamaha power (200hp) and seem to have a high value on NADA.

I'm looking at a 1990 200hp that was rebuilt last year or a 1998 175max that has low hours (less then 50, it actually was in storge all last year).
Is one year more reliable then the other? For all the Yamaha 2-stroke owners, how do you like your outboard? This would be my 1st.

What year did volvo stop making the 3.0L (AQ125) as a floating block? I have seen that the new models now have engine mounts. Did this change because of too much weight on the transom?
Did the 6cyl ever come as a "floating block"?

What's a fair asking price for an 83 Volvo AQ125a block and 270 drive? Both are in running condition but the engine has one cylinder with a low compression reading (needs rings).
I don't see any I/O listings in NADA.
Ok I removed the engine block today, now just have to remove the shield then I can start to get dirty.

I'm trying to remove a prop on a volvo 270 drive. The bolt was striped so i drilled the head off. I cannot remove the Propeller cone. Any ideas how to free it up? The cone spins with the prop I cannot get it to spin freely.

i have an 83 bayliner that needs some transom work. As I was poking around and peeling the inner coat off I noticed it is only 1/16th thick. Does this normal or part of the bayliner cheapness?
Is this inner coat glass, gelcoat or epoxy?
