i'm trying to drop my lower gearcase. but can't find a connection to gear shift linkage. this shift rod twists side to side , instead of up and down. maybe its a fork on lower end and will slide out when unit drops ? i really need to replace impeller in water pump. anyone have a suggestion ?
i have a 1985 90hp yamaha outboard. need to install impeller. however i don't see way to disconnect shift linkage. i've dropped units on other brands such as mercury, evenrude, and johnson. can anyone tell me how shifter disconnects? any help will be appreciated.
