when I hit a bump/pot hole in the road going 20+mph. I'm replacing the coupler this weekend. My boat sits on roller and I tied the stern down with straps. Is this normal? I'm afraid it's going to come crashing down on the trailer one day. What kind of checks should someone do on an old...
I need to add a 1" piece of wood (5"x4"x1") at the base to extend my down rigger height. What is that protection coating you would normally use to prevent deterioration from water contact? Some kind of water sealer. I wonder what they use at the ski resorts? I've seen some of their wood...
I have my boat license but don't know the answer to this. If your out in the middle of nowhere and navigating from a fishing spot to the next or to the ramp at say midnight. How would you do this if you don't have a GPS? Can you use some kind of spotlight to see where your going? I'm also...
Is there a secret to building up a "curve" using marine tex? I've been at it for days, adding layers among layers to the keel of my boat but it just don't look straight. I don't know how sharp to make it. I keep adding, taking some off by sanding it and adding some more.
Basically after 30...
I need ideas on how to lift the keel of my 16' glass boat a few inches while I build up the keel with marine tex. I finished building the keel area forward of the keel roller, I need to finish the rest. Just need some ideas.
I read a thread a while back where a guy built these wooden stand...
I checked my yamaha manual and it lists the alternator rating at 12V/25A. If this is the case, doesn't it mean that the most coming from the alternator at WOT to charge my battery is 25A?
I searched the topics and still have to ask a question just to double check. I want to run a wire from battery #2 (deep cycle) to my switch. I'm curious what size I need for the Yamaha 115 to charge battery #2, during switch 1+2 position. This is just to charge #2 when I make a long run from...
How do you guys store/launch anchors on a small 16' close bow glass boat? There should be something better than getting up on the bow and throwing/retrieving the anchor manually and storing it under the bow when done.
Another question related is, does anyone use some kind of rubber mat that...
Is a switch required to charge the battery? I always took off the terminals but hate doing so. I should know this question. I'm talking about just a single switch to open/close between motor/electronics and my one battery. I know I need two, my boat don't have enough room/space.
I'm pretty sure my transom's shot. Photos show lower outboard mounting holes. What will happen if I leave things alone?
EDIT: I don't think my boat has any of those cross members that run from starboard to port? Forget the name. How is the wood mounted/connected to the fiberglass normally...
I'm trying to get my stuff together and have a question on sanding. If I apply marine-tex for the gouges on my boat. Should I wet sand or dry sand? Is it one in the same paper, or do they make a paper for wet sanding. What grit should I buy?
