The first time I shut it down and started up again and remained off. Today it came on thirty seconds after start up. Engine died by itself. Hard starting it up again. Finally got it to start and engine light/warning again. I am resigned to replace the fuel lines, filters and priming bulb...
No change in amps when I throttle up. Meter shows drawing 1.4 amps at idle and at 3/4 throttle. Battery showing 12.40 volts running or not. Should I replace rectifier ? stator ?
I currently use a Racor 320R-01 Fuel/Water Separator head w/ S3227 filter and clear bowl. This system has worked well for many years. The painted head is getting corroded and I was wondering can I use a stainless steel head ( Marpac? Sierra? Other?) with a Racor S3227 element and my clear...
After I tilt the motor up after use ( boat is left in water) when I come back in several days the motor leaks down to it's operating position. This is a nuisance since the brackish water stains the lower unit badly. Is there a simple fix for this? Thanks
Trying to install a deck mounted remote oil fill for my VRO oil tank. Must the cap be vented? If yes is there a stainless deck fill that is suitable other than the plastic/ zamak found in the OMC kits. OR Is there another way to vent the tank allowing me to use a solid stainless non-vented...
I just splashed for the season ( yeah I know it's late...but I do have another boat).... I bring my 225 1998 evinrude up on plane and 1-2 minutes at WOT and the light and audible alarm come on. Back off on the throttle and the alarm goes away. I did install a Sting Ray hydrofoil this season...
Does the oil cap need to be vented? I see that I can purchase a OMC remote oil fill kit but I would prefer a stainless fill and cap but I am assuming the OMC kit uses a vented cap? Anyone know for sure what I need? Thanks
1998 Ocean Pro 225hp...Manual calls for OMC ultra gearcase lube. Marina says BRP HPF will work. I also have some BRP Hi Viscosity left over from an older Rude I had. What will work for my application? Thanks

I installed a water pressure gauge 0-30 psi on my 1998 225hp Rude. At wide open throttle the gauge pins. At idle I am seeing 15psi. Should I have gotten a 60psi gauge?

I have a 1998 Rude 225 tilt/trim system that leaks. I also have a 1991 200 Rude parts motor. Can I use the T/T system from the older motor for the 98?
If not is re-sealing the system a big deal?
How difficult a project is this? Is it just a matter of replacing some gaskets and seals and possibly a motor or does this require specialized tools and wherewithall and better left for the pro?
