Here's another picture dump and some more progress.
1. Counsel's are coated and painted and installed.
2. Windshield is fully painted and installed.
3. I'm starting the motor rigging and electrical now.
4. Ran out of carpet. I'm having difficulty getting additional carpet. It is Syntec...
Huge milestone today. Counsel's are finally properly fit and the windshield fits. I'll remove, coat and paint the plywood and then do final installation. Everything is being fastened with aluminum brackets repurposed from the Islander tear down.
I'm looking for ideas on how to finish the bow...
Thanks for reopening this. I have a bunch of pics to post and I’m going to try and keep updates coming until it’s done.
All the floor pieces are cut, coated and installed.
I have 3/4 in over 5/8 inch plywood.
Floor is installed with long (very long) reach blind rivets and stainless steel fender...
I had a thread started ("1987 Starcraft Islander 220V Rebuild") and have not updated in a while. I am completing the project now and would like to also complete the thread. Can this be reopened?
Ya, only because I already have 5/8 cut and fitted and it turned out to be too spongy in my opinion. I should have just gone with 3/4 from the start. So, now I have 5/8 and 3/4 both fit and treated. I did dry fit both layers and kind of like the idea (since I have the material already). I...
Its been a while! I had a move and have finally gotten set back up in a new shop. Time to start up again. I plan to finish this in the next month or two.
1. Removed the tank, installed 1/4 inch neoprene on the ribs, reinstalled.
2. Installed fuel fill, bonding wire and vent.
3. Installed...
Thanks for the information! I saw Waterman's advice below too (although a little late). So, I had brackets welded and am going to use vibration isolators (https://www.mcmaster.com/5823K5/) between the 90 degree tab and boats structure. I have the neoprene (from XCEL) and permatex too so pretty...
E175TXCUA. On cold engine. Engine had not run in over 10 years. Lubricated day before and turned once by hand to distribute on cylinder walls. I got 85-90 on all 6 cylinders. Is this within specs?
I just picked this up for $4K. It was a little more than I wanted to pay but with the outboard transom I thought $4K is at least close. I've been looking for the outboard transom on an islander for some time a while and they are rare to come up for sale. Its a mess inside but the hull looks real...
Can anyone tell me the difference between these two hulls. I am starting a new project and had planned on the islander for the deep aluminum hull and the ease of opening up the bow area. Id be interested to know which boat is deeper on the sides and bow and any other information on pros and...
