Alpha I outdrive 1994 with Mercruiser, started to accelerate and it sounded like we hit a log - there was a popping type sound then shut down. No damage to prop or anything. Could this be a gear issue with the outdrive? The engine will not start now.

I have a 1994 Sea Ray Bowrider with seats in the back. Has anyone built a custom downrigger system that can be removed for a boat like this? eg, for trolling - fishing? Would love to hear your ideas, see pics. Want to maintain the ski boat look and feel when not fishing.
Mercruiser 1998 V8 5.0 - I want to replace the water pick up hose on my mercruiser - can someone point me to a picture where this is located or tell me? Is this something that is easy to do - eg, I am not a mercruiser mechanic just a regular guy with basic mechanical skills.
I just had a new impellor installed in my mercruiser alpha one v8 1998 - thought this would fix the problem. When trolling at low speed for salmon the engine will heat up to over 170. Have to put in neutral to rev engine or go higher speed to cool engine to acceptable temperature level. What...
