    3 jaw merc lower unit in place of a 6 jaw ?

    has anyone put a 3 jaw lower unit onto a motor that had a 6 jaw ? I know a 6 jaw onto a 97 or older needs the shifter shaft replaced due to a longer throw ,but I have never tried a 3 jaw 88-97 onto a 98 or newer motor thank you anyone experience this ?

    merc 40 3cyl rev limiter issue 1999 model

    my friends boat had a bad key switch ,replaced ,wouldn't start no spark ,unplugged kill wire ,(black with yellow stripe )at the rev limiter module engine starts up ,of course wouldn't shut off until grounding wire again ,I would safely say ,bad rev limiter ? ....I unplugged top cylinder...

    75hp 2001 ficht ,wiring /low oil warning alarm

    I installed an evi 75hp ficht tiller for a friend,motor came with wiring harness that's it, no key switch .oil tank etc....almost done but no alarm when key is on and motor off ,I cannot find any connector to plug in the low oil reservoir tank wires to (tan and black ) I have 2 sets of wires...

    johnson 1995 40 hp throttle setting and timing

    hi ,I have a 1995 Johnson 40 hp I set the throttle cam according to the book but it could idle better ......rebuilt carbs ,eliminated vro ,added new fuel pump mounted it to vacuum port similar to older 50 hp ,no fuel leaks also starts hard warmed up after it sits a few minutes ......

    i need an opinion guys ,I have a boat in the shop with a 45 hp merc 4 cylinder (1986) ,owner said the boat would bog down and run rough at times ,while checking the motor I sprayed carb clean along the left side of the engine block at the split where the 2 block halfs join as I spray carefully...
