What is the basic standard size diameter of prop for a 225 h.p. merc. on a 2500 pound (dry weight)fiberglass 22 ft. walk-around fishing boat? The pitch is 19. The prop was stolen and I don't remember what the diameter was to order a new one.
1995 225 merc. aftet several tests, conclude that alternator is not charging batteries. obviously a brand new alt. would be the ideal fix if $ would permit. any thoughts on used or rebuilt alternators? trying to make a decision. thanks.

I know laws vary greatly from state to state. I was curious though, if anyone knew anything about carrying a firearm aboard a vessel, Both off-shore and innercoastaly. The firearm being legal, and the owner being legal to own it of coarse. Also is there any stipulation on what type of firearm...
I have a 23' Chris Craft Sea Hawk (walk-around). Dry weight is about 2500lbs. It holds 80 gallon of fuel, and I usually boat with 2 other 200+lbs. men. It is powered by a 1995 mercury 225 (carborated) outboard. All told, Baot, motor, men, fuel and gear = approx. 4000+lbs. I want to select the...
Recently noticed a large amount of water spraying out of the exhaust of my engine ( 1995 "225" carborated Mercury). When I trim the motor up to just a little before you can hear cavitaion, the water stops shooting out. She's pumping water fine, and the engine temp is fine. Lower the motor a...
Just considering getting a stainless prop soon. I have a 22 ft. walkaround with a 225 merc. I can run about 45 mph at wide open (5300rpm) depending on winds, tides and water conditions. What, besides durability will I gain by going to a stainless prop?
I am thinking about adding a hard-top to my 22 ft. walkaround. I have a 225 merc. and can run about 45 mph if I open her up. How much speed will I lose by adding an average size hard-top. Aluminum frame, fiberglass top, electronics box etc.
after running all day, I raise my motor for the night. The next day I notice there is oil running down the control cables. not a large amount, but enough to be noticed on a white deck. I removed the cowling and saw a bit of two stroke oil laying in the bottom under the carbs. It appears that it...
225 merc on a 22ft. chris craft "sea hawk". Thb boat does well getting up out of the water, but could use a little help getting the bow down quicker. I was concidering a set of fins for my lower unit.(these would only be used to get through the summer. I will be installing elctric trim tabs in...

I just replaced my marine batteries and decided to check my alternator voltage output just for the **** of it. I was supprised to see that it was only putting out 12.9 volts. I then tested the batteries. They also were putting out 12.9 volts. Having access to lots of parts, I tried another...
I have luvered cabin doors, a hatch, and a 2ft. pulpit all made of beautiful teak wood. Unfortunately, the boat's previous owner thought it would be a better idea to laquer the doors and hatch to protect them from the sun and rain. I guess no one ever told him about teak OIL. However, I now have...
Over the past 14 years, my poor ole girl has been run aground and beached many many times. Sometime on purpose, to get out on a beach and enjoy the day, and sometimes not so on purpose. Sandbars and unmarked shoals riddle the waters that I call MY Stomping grounds. It took many years to learn...
My fish finder/depth finder is having trouble reading depths at speed. once on plane, it will continue to give a speed reading, but the depth reading will either dissapear or jump up to an extremely high number (198ft.) when I know that I am only in 14 -20 ft. Also, if i do have to cross shallow...
