I mentioned some time ago a plan to connect a 12V linear actuator to my kicker for portable (around the boat) steering control. I have a Humminbird fish finder/GPS with a NMEA output.
Has anyone built a board to convert NMEA heading change info to drive an autopilot. Maybe using an...
guys next question:
My Antigua 18T has a merc 888 188 hp ford 302 with problems.
I bought another engine (Used HOPE it is good) and it came with a drive unit
BUT this other unit says it is a 165????
Is there a difference in rotation or gear ratio or drive shaft spline count etc or is this...
Wow! I can't believe this.
I have been trying to identify a remote shift / throttle / steering kit for my Merc 7.5 1985. After the serial number got rejected I got confused. My number doesnt match the posted numbers ( 7221752 ) then there are numerous parts numbers for remote kits for this...
 Maybe I just jumped in too soon? I got a helluva deal on a 1985 (??) Mercury 7.5 outboard for $300 with tank. It runs grea, looks good, t and I was going to put it on my Antigua 18T as a kicker.
PROBLEM:: I dont see anywhere to connect remote cables for throttle and shift or a remote...
I have been looking at the various ways of steering a kicker with the main engine. There are no really good marinas or boat dealers around here to buy stuff.
So I was browsing through the Princess Auto catalog ( similar to Harbor Freight) for some kind of pivoting shaft connector.
The next...
Re: old boat new idea -bow thruster
Boat is 1974 Silverline Antigua 18T she is 18 ft LOA beam =88 inches and depth = 40 inches at the helm. She catches a lot of wind when slow trolling with 7.5 Merc along a shoreline or weedbed. I thought a small bow thruster would eliminate a lot of wheel...
Re: Planing attachment on cavitation plate - are trim planes better
the boat is a 1974 Silverline Antigua 18T with 188 hp mercruiser v-8 she is 18 ft long beam of 88 inch and 40 inches deep, that 302 V-8 can really gobble fuel, I want a slower, flatter plane at lower RPM
Well looking at the wish book, which is a winter pastime around here. I am wondering if, considering the cost and work involved, how cavitaion plate planer attachments compare to trim tabs like the bennett setup. Or can both be used at once?
I have an old Bennett system but not all the parts...
I have a 1974 mercruiser powered by a Ford 302 v-8. I suspect, (and the manual says) unleaded fuel will burn the valves.
It has 351W heads how do I tell the difference between old valves and newer unleaded types? If I run less than 50 hours per year I am thinking the old valves might last longer...
I wonder if anyone has ever cut in a cross hull tunnel and put maybe a minkota in the tunnel as a bow thruster. No need to pivot, just forward / reverse for docking and slow cross wind trolling?
It would need to be above the wet line when planing but should work great.....
Hi,
Okay back in the 70's I had a 20 foot Calglass cuddy cabin with a 165 mercruiser. I bought a mounting bracket for an outboard to bolt to the I/O for main engine steering. I mount a 7.5 hp Johnson on it with shift/throttle cabled to the helm in the cabin. A wonderful setup for fishing...
Hi and Merry Christmas
This is a trailer I need parts for, there is no VIN number on it. The square aluminum fenders have EZ loader decals but the registration papers from the previous owner says it is a Tru-Line. It carries my 1974 Silverline Antigua 18T / Mercruiser 888 188hp.
I think...
Stilll fighting the same battle - the question is [I] Is The Block cracked?? [U](We get 40 below zero here)
boat is 1974 Silverline Antigua 18T, engine is mercruiser 888 (302 ford)
Problem: Overheating at higher RPM not WOT
SO FAR have replaced impeller pump and seals in lower unit, pulled...
