I was given a 10 HP Honda outboard that has a bad powerhead. The serial number is B1008031. I have scoured the internet looking for the year number but nothing. Anybody know??? Based on pictures my guess was 1979 but the guy who gave it to me swore it was a 1984. Sorry I only have a picture...
A very kind older gentlemen who has far too many vintage outboards to restore gifted me this 1957 Gale Buccaneer 12HP (12D15B). It looks to be in great shape although I haven't opened it up yet. It also doesn't have a prop. He gave me another prop to get me started (see pictures) but I need...
This weekend I picked up a package deal that included 3, 5HP motors including a 1946 or 48 Sea King (Blue), a 1951 Sea King (Red), and a 1956 Buccaneer Gale (Orange).
I have no background on the 1946. The guy got it for free and has never seen it run. Thinking about parting this one out...
I'm been trying to diagnose my problem with my motor appearing to only be firing on one cylinder and figure out what I need to do. When I test for spark on the Upper cylinder, it jumps the 7/16 and 3/8 inch gap no problem. When I try the same thing on the bottom cylinder, it does not. To try...
Ok, so I finally got my fuel pump kit in. I carefully removed the inner diagphram etc from my existing one and started to replace parts. I wasn't confident it was done right, so I found an image online (picture attached) of the steps to rebuild this fuel pump. Here's the problem, my existing one...
When I got this motor last fall I drained the lower unit oil and got a nice milky water surprise, so I knew I likely needed to replaced the lower unit seals. I also noticed dark black oil coming from around the prop. Still, I replaced the lower unit oil and took it for a test drive, and then I...

Re: FUEL PUMP OUTPUT - just need to verify this with the experts
However I just noticed on the bottom of my crankcase there is a wire that is attached to a bottom bolt and then not grounded or attached to anything else. Can't even see where it could go!
Re: FUEL PUMP OUTPUT - just need to verify this with the experts
Here is a picture of the fuel pump in relation to the cylinders. Hard to tell, looks like in between?
According to the shop manual that covers multiple years, doesn't it look like it uses both cylinders?
I've been having problems with my 1976 Johnson 15hp fuel supply. If I pump the bulb it will fill the carb bowl and stay hard, but once I fire it up, it will die after a minute or so if I don't keep pumping it. I read through several other posts on this issue and they provided the following...
Doing an overhaul on a 1976 Johnson 15 hp I picked up last fall. All the fuel lines are shot, including the line from gas tank. I replaced that (easy to find obviously) and I found a fuel line that goes from male connector on engine housing to fuel pump. This line was slightly smaller than line...
I got this vintage Motor-guide electric trolling motor and I tried looking up the serial number on several websites, including Motor-guides own website and came up with nothing. It says Patented 1972, but that doesn't mean the year. no big deal, just curious. (see attached picture)
What I am...
Ok, so I know that sounds like a lot, but here's the story. I bought this motor and it fired up great on the muffs. Idled fine low and could rev it up. Brought it home and it was the same thing. I changed the lower unit oil, and filled up gas (91 octaine NO ETHANOL), and mixed in 2% (50:1)...
