Couple time a year when flushing on garden hose I will open the single drain valve with engine running. It blows the water into the bilge and out the drain. I keep it open for 15 seconds.... Never had issues with blocked drains doing it this way. I usually drain my block at 10:00pm at night...
there is nothing wrong with the pics you posted. I would check engine alignment. If it is out it will make difficult to remove the drive. Drive should all but fall away from gimbal when the 6 nuts are removed.
Kind of related. I have Yamaha wave runners. Yamaha wanted $22.99 for one oil filter. The filter is identicle to the filter for my lexus gs300 which I get 3 for $10.00. Identicle part number, identicle shell, only difference is one says Toyota and one says Yamaha. Unbelievable.....
alldodge is correct. once i lubed mine easy as can be. I removed the inner cable from outer sheathing and lubed by engine. Years now and still super easy. Before grease the longer i was using the boat during the day the harder the steering got, assume it got warm...
I chased a Roush 427 for months with a similar problem. Oil pressure solid when cold 70psig. As soon as it got hot and above 4Krpm oil pressure would drop from 50 psi to 40 psi at 6k rpm's. Mellon (oil pump manufacturer said even though positive displacement it max flow is at 4K rpm's. I...
First boat was 1987 3.0 liter mercruiser. Sold boat 2018 and still running today, 1000's of hours. All salt water. First manifold failed after 10 years. Back side of exhaust passage thinned over years due to exhaust gas temp boiling water on exhaust manifold. Rest of manifold was nominal...
Get Mercruiser. Guy before me put aftermarket crap. Starter always made whine after it started. Bottom line Aftermarket garbage mounting holes were 1/16" off vs OEM. Even had to grind shoulders of mounting bolts. Went back to OEM perfect. That was 3 years ago
It is extremely easy to check spark plug wire continuity. Probably 20 seconds. I had a similar issue and changed the fuel filter, the distributor cap with no luck. Changed plugs and no more miss. I assume you got genuine ac Delco spark plugs. Look in you plug wire and ensure the connection...
google my name I fought that crap for weeks. Either get a gasket without the rock hard sealant bead that acts like pintle or take some sand paper and smooth the stupid rock hard bead flat a little. make sure your housing is clean and roughed up a little. When I had just painted the surface...
So much guessing and wrong information. Your exhaust manifolds have temperature sensors in them and will alarm if get to hot. If you had a RInda then it would tell you the temperatures the exhaust manifolds are running that how I know mine. Cat manifolds run hotter than old style manifolds...
You must have an older alpha 1 without the remote lube reservoir. Blasphemy!!! I bet you have a car that doesn't monitor tire pressure also. You live a wild and dangerous life....
Please don't ever replace your cat elements, eliminate them. Get rid of 4 rear oxygen sensors, run cooler exhaust, mitigate the chance of pre-ignition, extend life of exhaust elbows. Take savings and donate to local parks and wildlife. I am surprised you get more than 18 months out of your...
