Engine dies when put into gear

I have an 83 3.0 mercruiser it starts up and idles but when I put it into gear the engine dies. Please help me. Where do I start????

how to remove outdrive oil?

I have an 83 mercruiser il4 3.0. How do I remove the outdrive oil. All i see is a fill hole at top left side and a vent hole at the top right side?

old merc 3.0 will not start

Hello, I just bought a boat 1970 18' searay and don't know much about them. I put a new 600 cca battery in and it is fully charged. I also put a new starter switch in it because the guy said it needed one. He started it by crossing the starter with a screw driver, so I know it runs. Heres whats...
