    I've owned it for 25 years and always thought it was a 89?? Not sure why? That was always what I used ordering parts.untill I ordered lower unit parts that don't fit.thanks for the reply ,will definitely help.lol.i will check engine ser# too maybe the out drive was changed before I got it.

    Is there a way to tell the year of my out drive by this number plate?? Top numbers are,987343 then says 3.0l,then at bottom T0779120 ( in case it's blurred)

    It was never run without the washer, I fucked up that surface myself banging it back it after unsuccessfully trying to remove the carrier .my bad.but never was run without the washer. So not so obvious.and had nothing to do with why it wouldn't come out.

    A member here mentioned( damage where the tabs go in)well I took a closer look( pic) and decided to Dremel a bit.it doesn't take much to jam it up because I took off only a minute amount and the drive slid out great.I think that especially if it grabs on one side more it really jams it in the...

    No I haven't tried to pressurize.pretty sure mine is getting caught on a slight edge where those 2 tabs fit in to hold the carrier in.going to Dremel a bit a try pulling again,just haven't got around to it, I will notify of any success.🤞

    Had a bit of water in drive last season thought I would reseal it,the prop shaft seal is old.I also am resealing the top half too.can I change the prop seal without removing carrier??the drive is in good shape,very little corrosion.

    So went back at it for a bit today,still no luck and I got alot of torque on it,haven't tried the hot wrench yet cause all aluminum worries me with heat.even after trying to get it out it taps back in easily almost like it's bottoming on something.

    So trying to pull the bearing carrier on my cobra.took off 2 bolts and 2 tabs that seem to hold it in.made 2 threaded rods for my puller,comes out ok for 1/4 inch then gets tight and stops.? Am I missing something,manual is kinda sketchy( seloc).or can I change prop shaft seals without taking...

    1979 3.0L OMC coil

    I have been running the pertronix kit in my 89 3 ltr OMC for 15 years with zero issues.had to make a fix for the shift interrupter.( Found on this site).I have no complaints.

    89 OMC 3 ltr coil question

    So I have a 89 OMC 3 ltr.switched to pertronix years ago with zero issues.now toasted 2 coils in 50 hrs of run time.( I always carry a spare now)any ideas??.can almost predict it because starts missing slightly at certain rpm and stalls at idle.

    I switched to pertronix and the esa fix I found on this site on my 1989 3lt.it has run flawless for 800 plus hrs ( did keep the point for a backup just in case but 🤞 haven't needed them)

    If it calls for 1890 cc,and that's what you put in and stick says it's full.is it not full??

    If you put in the recommended amount of oil and the stick says full I wouldn't worry about it.

    Threads are fine.I did use a dab of loctite.hope it stays in.
