good day. I'm considering a 20hp 4 stroke tiller on my 14.5ft fishing boat. total weight for boat plus people/gear/batteries/motor etc is likely over 1100lbs. rated for 30hp. Would a 20hp plane this setup and what kind of top speed would it get?

I got an aftermarket water pump kit and it appears the housing is slightly higher and the rubber grommet that went ontop of the housing doesn't fit now. did they update the design to not need the grommet? concerned about a good seal from the housing to where it mates with upper half of motor...
im going to order a seal kit for my late 90's johnson 25hp 2 stroke. is there instructions on how to install the seal kit? not sure how difficult this is or anything to watch out for.

Picked up a late 90's Johnson 25hp that appears to have gas going into the oil injection tank. From what I understand, something has failed on the fuel pump/diaphragm which is causing this.
Compression is 90psi on all 3 cylinders cold (don't want to run it until issue fixed), so...
Does the fuel pump on these models have enough strength to tie into an under floor gas tank? I'm thinking of scrapping the portable tank and tying into my main tank, but wasn't sure if the longer run and gravity would play a part with these smaller motors' fuel pumps.

I've noticed that pulling the fuel line off and letting the motor run the carb dry after each use really helps on starts - usually starts 1 or 2 pulls every time.
I'm wondering though, as it didn't do this when I wouldn't drain the carb - why does it do this? I'm questioning if the carb floods...
I had the 9.8 out for a ride and pulled the plugs. They seem a bit white but both have similar color. I'm just wondering if I might need to clean the carb. Do you think they look a little on the lean side? Oil level is 3/4 full and compression is good and tight on both cylinders.

Looks like I'm getting about 4000-4200rpm at full throttle. The prop says F8.5 so I'm guessing its the stock 8.5D 8Pitch prop on there.
Based on my readings above and weight of the boat, what prop would best suit my setup? I am hoping...
I have a 50hp merc 4 stroke and am currently running the Merc Outboard 25w40 synthetic blend oil. I've heard that regular 25w40 oil isn't recommended to use when its colder than 4c. I'm not sure if being synthetic helps with the temperature range.

Hi all does anyone know if the tilt bracket on the 9.8 mfsa3 should be spring loaded? Its the mechanism with the side handle to latch the motor right out of the water.
It automatically locks into shallow water mode (i can see the spring on the bracket) but the full up position isn't locking...

Does anyone know if its possible to convert a newer 2007 Merc 9.9 tiller shifter to a side shifter or front shifter? Don't really like the idea of the shifter built into the tiller throttle.
I see a few part numbers but they don't list specifically if it will work on the 9.9...

My boat is around 15yrs old and notice the fuel lines are permeating pretty bad. No signs of cracks but was wondering how often the hoses should be replaced on the tank and fuel feed lines?
I have a carb'd 50hp merc and notice the fuel bulb loses prime fairly quickly after priming it up....whether starting it or not. After priming up I notice I can hear a hissing noise from the fuel pump on the motor where the in/out hoses go. Can't see any gas leaking and the gasket seems tight it...
