Drive Comparison: OB v Jet v Stern

Everyone has their preference but this is an interesting read: http://www.boatingmag.com/boats/boat-engine-comparison-outboard-vs-sterndrive-vs-jet-drive

Choice of "older" slalom ski with adjustable binding for friends

I'd just say if you have friends who like to ski, it's time for them to pony up and buy their own ski. If you're looking to grow your network of ski buds, their spending $200-300 represents a reasonable commitment to the idea. My sister has tried each of my last 4 skis but she prefers the 68"...

    Last Ski of the Season

Looking ahead to next week, the low temps are dropping into the 20s. So we grabbed a couple hours this morning for one last run! 38 degrees and light drizzle? No problem, the wind is down and the lake was glass. (no traffic at the boat ramp, and not another boat in sight!

I have reached middle age, and want to slalom ski again...

Lots of topics. Fitness, ski choice, boat, technique.....maybe even wardrobe. :) Bigger ski = more planing surface. There are some truly fat ones out there - Connelly Big Daddy or Connelly Pilot but those are really better cruising in a straight line. O'Brien Sychro, HO Triumph, Radar Theory or...

    Season About Over

We've gotten out the past three weekends. A little cool on the face today with 39 air/41 water temps. Might be our last day with overnight lows into the teens this week. In-boat hot tub with cooler full of hot water is the ticket for warming up hands and feet!

Nov 1 - A good day for skiing

Re: Nov 1 - A good day for skiing Drysuits and neoprene beanie. We were toasty. Got out again this evening with air about 50. Water doesn't get any flatter. Next week looking like 30s and 40s. We may be done.

Nov 1 - A good day for skiing

I skipped out of work early to meet some buddies at the lake. Outstanding water. Flat. Glass. No waves. 52 water temp. 57 air. Not bad for this time of year in MN.

    Amateur Pyramid

I've been working on my sons/nephews for a couple years trying to promote some pyramid-building. After a failed effort last year, they gave it another go late this summer. Here are a few pics. Dry land training and rope-length adjustment Encouragement from your's truly And they're off...

1991 Johnson 30 hp Electric Start - starter pops out

My brother bought a used boat with a '91 Johnson 30 hp twin. Electric start only on this model. Sorry Don't have the model number. It runs great when warm, but when starting, the starter jumps up to engage the flywheel for just about 1.5 seconds and then pops out and the starter motor spins...

Ski Rope...where to tie it? 1964 starcraft

Re: Ski Rope...where to tie it? 1964 starcraft Do your transom handles look like this? I wonder what they were intended for in the first place? If the handles are tight, I would try attaching a bridle type harness to those. A ski rope to the bridle. The load of a skier spread between...

    Sunrise on Thursday

There's nothing like getting out before work on a week day. Water was a balmy 85 degrees today...about as warm as we ever see it in MN.

    How's YOUR weather?

OK summer is here, at least that is what the calendar says. I've gotten out skiing 18 days so far, but we're a couple weeks behind what is typical. 52 degrees and rainy in MN AGAIN today. Please turn off the wind and rain, and turn the heater back on.

    Kneeboard - Compression molded FS

Here is an ad for a good looking compression molded board. $75 used. http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&postid=12163 Thinner profile will hold an edge better for cutting. They are also less buoyant, so easier to get under you for deepwater start.

    Driving tip for pulling skiiers

Quick tip for the weekend while I'm waiting for a buddy to call with a wind report at the lake: Unlike tubing, where the ride pretty much depends on the creativity of the boat driver, waterskiing is all about the skier. Here is a little diagram that might help explain. 1. Constant speed of...

    Waterskiing Song

The network of friends I ski with call ourselves the Bryant Lake Ski Team (BLST) - not because we're any kind of a real team, but I had to figure out something to put on the T-shirts I designed a few years back. I challenged my song writing son to put something together for us before he headed...
