Thanks for your responses. Mine is a Minn Kota Terrova Quest and the shaft seems pretty durable. The way it is stowed puts it about a foot above the floor, and just inside the gunnel. I don't usually run the boat fast enough in waves that the boat slams up and down, so I'm most concerned about...
How important is it to support the trolling motor shaft when the trolling motor is stowed while on the trailer? Has anybody had problems with the shaft bending while trailering?
