I don't have a local source for Mercury/Quicksilver coolant, and I don't like paying the high shipping costs (I'm a cheapskate). West Marine has Shell Rotella ELC concentrate for $35 a gallon. With a 15% off sale and after diluting, it's about $15 a gallon.
My service manual says to use an...
Yeah, I guess there's no specificity to o-rings in this application.
I accidentally broke the o-ring, which I might even just reinstall with the break in the 6 o'clock position.
Has anyone ordered stuff from either of these sites? Need an o-ring for my Maxwell windlass HRCFF6 (part# sp0726). These are the only sites that seem to have it in stock...
Not familiar with this product so I looked it up - labeled as "form-a-gasket". Is this the product you are referring to?
Again, I'm not familiar with this but I would think that any type of gasket material could get stuck on the threads of the head and/or pieces could fall into the combustion...
I've read that antiseize can cause galvanic corrosion in a saltwater environment. Since sparkplugs are not in contact with the saltwater, is it ok to use antiseize on the threads?
If not, what would be another options?
Hard to start, and would not stay running. Never touched an outboard before this, but I decided to open the pump to see if there was anything obvious to be fixed. Springs started trying to pop out so I tried to put it back together, but not sure if I got it right so I ordered a cheap pump to...
Hey folks, I purchased a fuel pump off Amazon that is supposed to be a replacement for the OEM part# 388685. But it looks different than the one that's currently installed (not sure if OEM or aftermarket). The new one is taller/thicker and the fuel line bibs are oriented differently. It looks...
Thanks everyone, but this is the best suggestion - I tend to overthink things and make them more complicated than I need to.
Already had 5200, so I marked, drilled, checked fit, slathered, and bolted up.
Or, maybe I could shim all 4 brackets, tighten all bolts down the same amount, and the brackets that started with a gap will "squish" a little less than the ones that started flush?
Hello all. I picked up a used swim step for my 1977 Skipjack (it came off another skipjack). When I bolt the brackets to the swimstep, they don't all lay flush against my transom (about 2 or 3 mm gap). I tried switching the brackets to different positions, but still not all flush. I don't want...
