we have a 1977 mecury 40 hp 402 engine, engine starts up fine runs for 1 minit then dies starts up again but only way to keep it going is to flutter the choke we rebuilt the fuel pump checked the squeeze ball, squeeze ball will not get hard, when it is squeezed fuel is pushed thru the carberator...

the engine does not start,
we can get the engine to start using quick start.
but the engine runs for 20 seconds then dies.
we purchased a new fuel tank
i mixed new gas and my first discovrey is by pulling the bowl insted of gasoline...
