Given the same horsepower for both engines, identical boats, one engine with a 2.3:1 lower unit and the other with a 2:1 lower unit swing the same props which boat would be faster.
I currently have a 1998 Mariner 50 4 Stroke Big Foot with a 2.31:1 lower unit and would like to change to the standard lower unit with 1.83:1 or the 2:1 lower unit. Does anyone know what model year lower would bolt up to my current engine. thanks
